Fall is (almost here) and we can feel all her cool, light, dry and mobile vibes already! The back-to-school buzz has seemed to stoke everybody’s creativity and we’re all hyped up to get back in full swing and take on new projects.
Fall welcomes the elements of air + space to the stage. According to Ayurveda, it is because of our environment’s shift of away from the fiery qualities of summer and into the airiness of fall that you might notice more movement, inspiration, excitement, and lightness!
The transition from summer to fall marks a tricky time for balance in the world of Ayurveda. You might notice symptoms of anxiousness, insomnia, cracking joints, dryness of skin and hair, poor circulation, bloating or constipation. If we aren’t careful to build immunity and nourish ourselves this time of year, these possible symptoms can amplify and give us trouble through the winter! While the excitement of the seasonal shift might have her hold on you, its important to really take the time to rest, begin to turn inward and nourish yourself. To help you do just that, I have a delicious secret weapon (from my teacher) to share with you to help get your buns in bed early and get the rest you need to stay healthy as we move into the darker and cooler months of the year.
Sip this warm and sweet nightcap before bed to calm anxiety and help you drift off into deep, restful sleep.
4-6 oz of whole organic milk (or almond milk)
A pinch or sprinkle of each of the following:
Put all ingredients into a small saucepan and bring to a soft boil for about 3 minutes. Remove from the stove and let sit for a minute or so. Add raw honey to taste.
*Note: Be careful to add either more or less than 1 teaspoon of honey to this recipe as equal parts of honey and ghee are considered an Ayurvedic no-no!
